ORCHESTRE TOUT PETIT JEAN TINGUELY

Sound installation

The Orchestre Tout Petit Jean Tinguely is a sound installation based around an old East German double bass that was saved from being destroyed. Vincent Bertholet, initiator of the absurdist Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp, is also the father of this “tiny” orchestra. In the tradition of the artist Tinguely and his worthy successors such as Pierre Bastien or Frédéric Le Junter, the Orchestre Tout Petit is a poetic attempt to breathe new life into some of the objects in our society that are at the end of their life cycle.

From the bass recorder to the plastic recorder to the Garklein – Alex Riva draws out their hidden sounds. He does not look for harmony, but for the startling and unexpected. Music for a septet: drums, electric bass, electric guitar, trumpet, trombone, alto saxophone, baritone saxophone and electronics. Concise, rhythmic, brutalist jazz. We are off on an expedition. What to bring: Sunglasses, flare signals, binoculars, sweatbands, glucose tablets, water, something to throw around, a blanket. And something to write with, to capture any sudden insights.

TRESQUE

01:00 – Turnhalle

Photo: Mehdi Benkler

Tresque is the name of an almost forgotten medieval dance transformed into “an idea of Techno”…/ or so it was until now… Laurent Peter a.k.a. d’incise re-enters the dance floor – the site of the gathering – from the side, with an eye on traditions, construction spaces of realities and fantasies. Coming from a long artistic career as an experimental musician, Tresque returns to his roots, which lie in dub music and the sound system culture… / and this time Tresque may well step higher into skanks and deeper into bass lines.
