For the eleventh time, Jazzwerkstatt Bern will be hosting musicians from around the world at the Progr cultural center in Bern. Around 90 performers from Morocco, South Africa, USA, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden, Canada, Italy, Modova and Spain will be making new connections, forming new ensembles, and presenting bands that, frankly, everyone should already have been talking about for ages now. Jazzwerkstatt Bern is about exchange and networking, curiosity and experimentation, in short: for music that thinks outside of the box. This year’s guest curator, the South African bassist, composer and producer Shane Cooper, is responsible for a particularly wide spectrum of programming.
Many of the rehearsals for the numerous world premieres will take place during the festival and will be open to the public in the afternoon in the Turnhalle space at PROGR.
